Over the years I have come to realize that family is not about who gave birth to you, or who has your genes. Rather, family is about people who love and support you through any life decisions that you make. You don't have to be biologically related to be family. Blood is not always thicker than water. When I was little I used to think that being adopted was a bad thing, because it made me stand out and be "different." but really everyone has their differences, just in different ways. There is no such thing as a "normal" life because "normal" doesn’t really exist. Adoption has changed my life because if I wasn't adopted, I would probably still be in a children's home until I was 18. Being adopted has opened the door for a abundant amount of opportunities that I would probably never get if I was still living in an orphanage. I now know that I shouldn't be ashamed of being adopted because it has given me another chance at life and another chance at becoming whoever I want to be.
